Aliens vs. Cyborgs
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
I made this game in my own game engine (written in Java / Kotlin), that's why most things are buggy. I'm sorry for maybe underdelivering, I hope you will still have fun with the game.
The Premise
You are an alien in outer space, trying to find a crew. As your score grows, you will unlock more possible crew members (you can see the score in the menu, pause menu, etc.) to fight off the cyborgs. Once the humans have penetrated your line, you will lose. If you collide with another alien spaceship and have no space for another crew member, you will lose as well.
Controls
By default, the keybindings are:
D-Pad: Arrow Keys
A: X
B: C
Select: Backspace
Start: Enter
you can pause the game using start, and customize your keybindings in the settings. Shooting is bound to a, try exiting stuff with b, will work most times, and with select you can see your current count of all your materials.
Palettes
You can customize your experience using one of 11 different palettes, or you can add your own 4-color-palette. How you do this is also very simple:
- In the Folder 'Game/res/palettes' create a file with your preferred palette name and the suffix '.palette', for example: 'space.palette'
- paste in the rgb values of all the colors, the colors itself are seperated with a semicolon, and the rgb values with a comma.
- Now reload the game and select your own palette from the settings menu
- You can use tools to make the creation of palettes easier, like the website 'https://coolors.co/'
Conclusion
Thank you for clicking on this game and considering to try it. I worked very hard on everything myself, the engine, the custom pixel editor I made for the game, the art, the music, the game itself. I hope you'll have fun with the game!
Download
Install instructions
The shortcut doesn't work somehow, just go into the game folder and start the .exe file. You have to have java (jre) installed.
